Paolo Di Canio believes Antonio Conte wouldn’t relish the prospect of a six-time Ballon d’Or winner in Lionel Messi joining Inter Milan.

Messi’s future is shrouded in doubt following a frustrating season both on and off the pitch at Barcelona, resulting in contract talks being left on hold until further notice. Therefore, Inter could allegedly be a potential next destination for him.

Although Nerazzurri boss Conte has played down the rumor occasionally. His latest one was last weekend, where he suggested there was no chance of the transfer happening.

Now Di Canio, who played for Juventus and AC Milan during his own career, claims Conte wouldn’t want Messi anyway as the Barca star’s profile could make him bigger than Inter.

The former striker told Sky Sport Italia: “If Inter really decided to go for Messi and had already told him that they will do everything to take him, are you sure that Conte would like Messi at Inter? I say no.

“It would mean that we would talk more about Messi than about Inter, as happens with Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus, or even more.”

The latest reports suggest Inter are more interested in securing the future of Alexis Sanchez.
