Diego Costa is hoping that Atletico Madrid can translate their La Liga form into the Champions League ahead of the RB Leipzig match.
Atletico Madrid managed to avoid defeat in each of their 11 matches after the resumption of the 2019/20 La Liga in June.
Atletico’s unbeaten run helped them finish third in the league, a position that had looked well out of their reach earlier in the season.
They have now turned their attention to the Champions League. Diego Simeone’s side, who evaded Liverpool in the Round of 16, are set to face RB Leipzig in the one-legged quarter-finals.
An informed Diego Costa insists it will not exactly be a walk in the part against the German side.
“It will be a very tough game. So let’s hope we have the same luck as in the league,” Costa said, according to Marca.
“I watch a lot of games from the Bundesliga when I’m at home, and they’re a fantastic team. We’ll have to concentrate fully to come out on top.”
Atleti have thrice played in the Champions League final with no luck, with both of their most recent defeats coming against city rivals Real Madrid.
“We’ve been to a final, but we couldn’t get it done,” Costa added. “We’ll try our best this time, but it’s a very hard competition to win.”
