Hernan Crespo believes Lautaro Martinez can become the new Sergio Aguero for the Argentine national side.
Lautaro Martinez is in the headlines a lot right now regarding his future. Will he leave Inter Milan for Barcelona, could he replace Aguero at City?
But for Hernan Crespo, who also played for Inter in his prime, the most significant thing about Martinez is what he brings to the Argentine national side.
While Aguero is 32 and coming to the twilight of his career, Martinez is only 22 and about to enter his prime.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Crespo is eager to see the youngster team up with the already proven talent of Dybala and Icardi.
He believes Matinez can be even better than Manchester City’s all-time leading goal scorer.
“We know Mauro Icardi and Paulo Dybala, while we’re getting to see what Lautaro Martinez can do.”
“Lautaro could well be the new Sergio Aguero.”
“He’s not as sharp in his dribbling, but he is more of a team player than Kun, who too often gets distracted and looks disinterested.”
“Lautaro is always participating in the move, so he can play as a lone centre-forward or with another striker like Romelu Lukaku.”
“Even in a trident. I really like his mentality.”
He appears to be already following in Crespo’s footsteps domestically, but the question is can he do so internationally?
