While questions have been raised over CR7’s future of late, the star appears settled on staying at Old Trafford.
A ‘very happy’ Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he will stay at Manchester United for next season.
The Portugal captain was one of few highlights in an otherwise dismal 2021/22 campaign for the club, scoring 24 goals across all competitions following his return from Juventus last summer.
But Erik ten Hag’s arrival as the new manager, along with Manchester United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, raised doubts over whether Ronaldo would stay put.
🗣️ “I wish him the best and let’s believe that we’re going to win trophies.” @Cristiano shares his thoughts on Erik ten Hag, the club’s incredible support and pre-match nerves ahead of his United return in an unmissable episode of Player Diaries 👀#MUFC | #BringingYouCloser pic.twitter.com/I4ghf0YMuf

Will Ronaldo stay?
The player himself, however, has suggested he will continue in red for another season.
“I was happy of course to be back in a club that really raised my career, so it was unbelievable the feeling when I [came] back again,” Ronaldo told United’s ‘Player Diaries’.
“It was nice to feel the supporters, the happiness of them was great.
“I was, and still am very happy to be here. And what I have to say to the fans is that they are amazing. Even when you lost the games, they always support us, they are always with us. The supporters, they are always in my heart. It’s the people that we all should respect because they are the ones on our side.”
What’s the target now?
Ronaldo insists he still believes Manchester United can restore their glory days, despite having gone five years without a trophy.
“For me, the most important thing is to try and win the games and try to win some championship or some cup,” the forward added.
“But I believe Manchester will be where they belong. As I said before, sometimes it takes time but I still believe.
“The records, it’s coming in a natural way. I don’t follow the records but the records follow me. So it’s good.
“It’s still my motivation to carry on. Just working hard. I still love the passion for the game. And of course, Manchester and my teammates helped me all the way so I have to appreciate all the people who help Cristiano.”
Ronaldo is currently away on international duty with the Portuguese national team.
He returns to action this Sunday for Portugal’s second Nations League game against Switzerland in Lisbon.
