The former Real Madrid striker believes Zinedine Zidane was key in his development as the type of player he currently is.

Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo played for Real Madrid from 2009 to 2018.

He then left to join the Bianconeri where he already won the Italian Lega Serie A Scudetto.

But today he praised his former manager Zinedine Zidane for helping him during his career.

“The confidence a player needs isn’t just up to him, but the people around him, the other players and the coach,” Ronaldo was quoted by Sport.

“You should feel like an important part of the group and Zidane made me feel special.”

Cristiano added: “He helped me a lot.”

Alvaro Morata, Atletico Madrid, La Liga

Morata blames his former team-mates for lack of confidence at Chelsea

Alvaro Morata is finding his form again as he's scored six times in a row for Atletico, becoming the primary striking option for Simeone.

“I already respected him but working with him made me admire him even more, for the way he is, the way he talks, how he sets up the team and for how he treated me.”

“He used to say, ‘Cris, rest because you will be the one who makes the difference,” he said.

“He was always honest and for that, I’ll keep him in my heart.”
