Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has dished out the secrets on how he keeps himself in top shape at the age of 34.
Ronaldo’s superhuman levels show no signs of diminishing at all, with the forward still very much at peak fitness despite entering his mid-thirties earlier this year.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has always insisted that age has never been a problem for him, which his Juventus medical results proved last year.
The club discovered that Ronaldo’s physical state was comparable to a 20-year-old. He only had 7% body fat and a stunning 50% muscle mass, which is miles better than most footballers his own age.
Backing these results up is Ronaldo continuing to bang in the goals on both club and international level. In fact, he recently smashed Robbie Keane’s European qualifying goal record by scoring four goals against Lithuania.
And now the Real Madrid legend has opened up on some of his secrets.
“The body fat is true – 60 to 70 per-cent of my life is based in football,” Ronaldo told YouTube channel ChrisMD.
“I dedicate myself not just to training but also preparing myself. And 90 per cent of my successful maintenance is sleeping good, training well, recover.
“It’s no secret. If you don’t take care of yourself, nobody’s going to help you.”
Like any other normal person, Ronaldo also has a cheat day.
He added: “But I’m not like it every day.
“Sometimes, I eat pizza with my son. If I don’t do that, I’m going to be boring.
“The point is to take care of my fitness and eat properly.”
Ronaldo made a goalscoring return during Juventus’ 2-0 win over SPAL in the Serie A, which kept Maurizio Sarri’s side within two points of leaders Inter Milan.
The Bianconeri are now preparing to host Bayer Leverkusen in a Group D Champions League clash next Tuesday in Turin.
