Wilfried Zaha wants a change of scenery leaving his current employers, Crystal Palace, who feel his performances have taken a downturn because of this.
Manchester United was linked with Zaha last year but instead secured the services of his teammate, Aaron wan Bissaka.
The rumor mill then linked the Ivory Coast international with Chelsea. The Blues were interested but were put off by the Eagles’ demands.
Zaha wants to move and with potential suitors looking at other options, his form has declined.
The experienced trainer admitted that Zaha has not been at his best recently and attributed it to his situation.
Hodgson stated that both Zaha and the club are in a ‘dilemma’ to sort out the situation. However, he stated Palace’s desire to keep the Abidjan native on their roster for the long haul.
“It’s obviously affected him because his form in the last few weeks has really been quite poor considering what he is capable of doing,” Hodgson told BBC.
“It’s a dilemma for the club and a dilemma for him if he is so set on leaving. If he feels he just does not want to be with us anymore, that would be sad.”
“We still like him very much; we can’t make him like us. This is a situation that only he and the club can sort out. I don’t have an answer.”
