The Brazilian footballer has talked about how Pep Guardiola wanted to teach both players a lesson when he coached Barcelona.
Pep Guardiola enjoyed his best football seasons when he managed Barcelona in the Spanish La Liga.
There he was able to coach Brazilian player Dani Alves and Argentinean superstar Lionel Messi.
“Argentina’s problem is that they do not know how to take advantage of a star like Messi,” Dani Alves told Sport.
“The problem in Argentina is that he does not understand that Messi is on the team.”
“With Guardiola, I had a lot of problems with the game I touched,” he added.
“I always tried to connect with Messi, but Guardiola got angry.”
Dani Alves explained: “One day I told him that I did not accept his complaints. If Messi spends two minutes without touching the ball, he is disconnected from the game.”
“If we are going to prepare him to define the game, he has to be connected in the game. So I’m going to connect with us. Then he told me: ‘You’re right’. These players have to always be with the ball.”
