David Beckham has backed his former teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to return long-term success to Manchester United.

Former Manchester United right-winger David Beckham believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the right man for Manchester United.

Becks says Ole is loved by the fans and by everyone else at the club, as the Norwegian has won 10 of the 13 Premier League games since his appointment back in December.

“It’s great he has done an incredible job, so he deserves the contract he has got,” Beckham told Sky Sports News.

“He is loved by the fans and the players and everyone else at the club. He has done a great job and it will continue because real fans love him. It’s great for the club and great for him.”

David Beckham is also impressed with another former teammate – the manager of England’s national team, Gareth Southgate.

Southgate guided England to the last four of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, their first semi-final in 28 years.

England also won their group in the UEFA Nations League ahead of Spain and Croatia, booking their place for the final-four tournament in Portugal between 5th and 9th June 2019.

The Three Lions face the Netherlands in the semi-finals and if they win the game, will play against either Portugal or Switzerland in the first-ever UEFA Nations League Final.

“It’s exciting. I was excited when Gareth took over because I think he spent enough time with the players from a very young age,” added the former England captain.

“To see them go into the first team squad and the way they are playing – it is exceptional to see.

“I think it does not matter how old they are – we’ve all talked about age over the years – but when they’ve got the experience they’ve got playing for the teams they play for it does not matter what age they are.

“If they are playing the way they are – it is exciting times.”
