Manchester United have confirmed that David Beckham will feature in May’s treble reunion match with Bayern Munich.

The Red Devils will welcome back a host of former stars from their legendary treble-winning squad of the 1998/99 campaign to take on Bayern to help raise funds for the Manchester United Foundation.

It will be played at Old Trafford exactly 20 years to the night when United famously defeated Bayern 2-1 in Barcelona to win the Champions League and complete a historic treble.

Sir Alex Ferguson will return to the dugout for the occasion to coach his old team one more time with United now announcing today that Beckham will be joining his former boss.

The former England captain will be playing alongside Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Jesper Blomqvist in the United midfield.

“I’m so excited to be going back to Old Trafford in May,” Beckham told the club website.

“1999 was such a massive year for us so recreating that moment is going to be really special.

Van Persie has no regrets over swapping Arsenal for Man United

Robin van Persie understands Arsenal's frustrations over his controversial switch to Manchester United, but has no regrets either.

“To be back together as a squad and to be managed by the boss again is huge. Huge for us and for the fans. I can’t wait.”

Aside from winning the Champions League that season, United also claimed the Premier League and FA Cup titles.

Meanwhile, Beckham’s former team-mate Butt also spoke on the upcoming fixture.

“We’re all really looking forward to coming back together again and playing this match, which is for a really good cause,” said the 44-year-old.

“Hopefully, we’ll bring back some really good memories and everyone will really enjoy it.”

Gary and Phil Neville are also set to make a return in the United defence during the reunion match along with Denis Irwin and Jaap Stam.

Peter Schmeichel will play in goal for the Red Devils, who are yet to confirm their strikers for the big day.
