New York City FC have confirmed they have begun internal investigations into allegations of sexual harassment by Villa during his time at the club.
David Villa was at New York City FC for four years from 2015 to 2018. He left the New York to play for former Spain teammate, Andres Iniesta at Vissel Kobe.
Two years after leaving, Villa is at the center of sexual harassment scandal. The former Barcelona and Valencia star has been alleged by twitter user, Skyler B, to inappropriately touch her.
The said events took place when Skyler B was working as intern at New York FC.
“I thought I was getting the opportunity of a life time when I got that internship,” she said. “What I got was David Villa touching me every f–king day and my bosses thinking it was great comedic material.”
New York FC have swiftly taken notice of the claims and shared that they are investigating the matter. The team statement according to ESPN FC’s Jeff Carlisle read:
“New York City Football Club has learned of the allegations made by a former intern by seeing them on social media. We take this matter extremely seriously and we do not tolerate harassment of any kind in any areas of our organization. We immediately launched an investigation into the matter”.
All eyes would be on the case and Villa would be looking to drag his name from the mud soon enough.
