David Villa gives opinion on Joao Felix signing

Joao Felix has sealed a big money move to Atletico Madrid and David Villa believes that the club knows what they are doing.

Joao Felix joined Atletico Madrid in a €126 million deal. The move makes the youngster the fourth most expensive signing in football. And a lot of people have raised their eyebrows over the amount paid to sign a player who only has one season of professional football under his belt.

However, David Villa believes that the youngster is going to be a huge success at the Wanda Metropolitano.

While speaking to Goal, the veteran striker said that Joao Felix will justify his transfer.

“With the amount that Atleti paid and how well they manage just issues, they would not have signed him without being sure of him,” the veteran forward told Goal. “I’ve not seen him play a lot, but the Atleti fans will be grateful for him if he works. You can fail, but if you leave everything on the pitch, people are happy.

Paul Gascoigne shocked at Trippier sale

The legendary England international is finding it hard to believe that Tottenham have agreed to sell Trippier to Atletico Madrid. While Atletico Madrid have...

“I only had one year with Atletico, and there were ups and downs, I scored 15 goals, we won the league, and the fans still thank me.”

Talking about his playing career, Villa said that he hasn’t decided about retiring from the game so far. With his contract set to expire with Vissel Kobe in December, the Spaniard believes that he is in good shape to continue playing.

“People have commented on my retirement for years but I’m still going,” he said. “I’m proud to still be playing at this level at my age. I don’t think about the future so much because everything changes so much.

“I have a contract until December and then I’ll see what happens.

“This body is responding to me, so I’ll play. When a player retires, it’s because I’ll have a body that’s no longer going. But that’s not my case and I love this sport.”
