David Villa’s brace for New York City in their 3-1 win against FC Dallas means that he has now netted his 400th career goal
The former Spain international has now joined the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as the only other active players to have reached the milestone.
After missing New York’s previous four matches, Villa returned to the side and converted from the spot to restore their lead to 2-1 for his 400th career goal after Santiago Mosquera had equalised for the visitors at the Yankees Stadium.
The 36-year-old then added a second in the 68th minute of the match for his fourth goal this season and his 67th MLS regular-season goal.
