Jack Grealish is relishing his side’s clash against Manchester City in the Carabo Cup on Sunday.
The Aston Villa captain has been standout this season and has earned several plaudits including being linked to the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United in the summer.
Villa will face City as underdogs on Sunday and the 24-year-old has revealed his team are happy to arrive with a point to prove.
In an era where Messi and Ronaldo are the norm, Grealish gave a quite surprising answer on who he considered his football idol.
Speaking in an interview with Andy Townsend as seen on Twitter via the club’s website, the England international gave his thoughts on how the club were preparing for the Carabao Cup final.
And being asked his best player in the Manchester City squad, he was quick to mention Kevin De Bruyne without thinking twice.
The 24-year-old dubbed the Belgian the best player in the world.
To think that wasn’t enough, Grealish also made an eye-raising statement saying “I think he is the best in the world after Messi and Ronaldo”
“I would like to go on and be like him”
The Carabao Cup final showpiece promises to be a great one on Sunday. For Grealish, it could be double pleasure if Villa wins. Lifting the trophy and beating De Bruyne all on the same day.
