Frenkie De Jong is still adapting to life at Barcelona but admits that being able to get advice from Lionel Messi is a huge help.
Ajax youth product Frenkie De Jong made a big-money move to Barcelona in the summer of 2019.
The 23-year-old Dutchman has admittedly struggled to adapt and settle following his 75 million Euro transfer.
Speaking to BBC Sport being able to get advice from the best player in the world definitely helps.
De Jong said:
“If he gives advice, you listen. Sometimes he says you have to be deeper or to the side, small things but it makes the difference.”
However, he insists while things are different he is continuously improving and learning.
“In Ajax and the Dutch squad I’ve had a different role but we’re playing with a double six, two defensive midfielders.”
“I have to adapt and it’s going OK, but I can improve.”
“I’m at my best when I’m not the most defensive but also not the most attacking midfielder.”
Despite the talk of his struggles at the Camp Nou. It seems highly unlikely that Barcelona will part with the young defender.
