Frenkie de Jong has revealed that he wishes to establish his name among the best players for Barcelona.

After enjoying a successful campaign with Ajax, Frenkie de Jong signed for FC Barcelona at the start of this season for €75 million.

De Jong has been unable to replicate his previous form with his new club but has established himself as a key player in Barcelona’s current campaign.

The 22-year old’s inconsistency has raised claims that he is unhappy at Barcelona and is questioning his decision to quit Ajax. But De Jong has dismissed any such claims.

Instead, the Dutchman claimed that he was happy to be at the ‘best club in the world.’

“I am really happy because I always wanted to play here,” De Jong told Sport.

“I’m playing with players who for me are genuine legends. I am enjoying myself and I am learning a lot, too. I’m at the best club in the world, living in a wonderful city with great weather.

“Now, I am focused on working hard and being at my best. I hope I can be remembered. Maybe not as a legend, but as a good player.

“I hope so [retiring at Barcelona]. I always wanted to play for Barca.”
