Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed that Marek Hamsik is moving to Dalian Yifang to get a rich pension.
Reports circulating around the Italian press claim that Hamsik has already signed the three-year contract with the Chinese Super League club, where he will earn €3m per year.
“Hamsik has shown his impeccable professionalism at Napoli, with the city, the team and all the Coaches he worked with, never betraying anyone, even in the most difficult moments,” De Laurentiis told Football Italia.
“He displayed great maturity and became the kind of player everyone would like to have in their team. So when he comes to you and asks, ‘President, I’d really love to go to China,’
The President thanked the Slovakian skipper for his patience and understanding in the course of his transfer pursuit but admitted Fabian Ruiz remains a good replacement.
“I had said no over the summer because Carlo Ancelotti had just arrived and I wanted the Coach to see all the players.
“Then Fabian Ruiz arrived… So, if Mr Hamsik – who is no fool – realises there are already four players for two roles and one of them is Fabian Ruiz, I can ask to leave and get myself a rich Chinese pension.”
Napoli are currently second in the Italian Serie A, nine points behind leaders Juventus in what has been a topsy turvy campaign for the Naples side.
"Talks are in progress."
Marek Hamsik could be set to leave Napoli in a move to China.
