Sassuolo manager Roberto De Zerbi reveals he has some “regrets” after his side lost 2-1 away at Juventus, but concedes it’s difficult playing the Italian Champions.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace to hand Juventus all three points on Sunday as they beat Sassuolo 2-1, and De Zerbi was happy with his team’s performance but annoyed by the result.
“I am very happy with the overall performance and attitude of my team. It’s annoying to lose, but it can happen,” De Zerbi told Sky Sports Italia.
“The most disappointing aspect is the first goal that we conceded, while the second was because we opened up spaces to attack them in numbers.
“We actually played better after going a goal behind, perhaps shaking off some of the responsibility and tension. In a way, I do regret not introducing Khouma Babacar earlier.
“Juventus deserve great credit for their unpredictability and giving opposition defences very few reference points to work with. You can’t prepare for them the way you would any other side.
“The qualities I’d most like to take from Juventus are their humility and respect for the opponents. I’ve faced Juve over three years and I’ve never seen them underestimate anyone.”
