Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has slammed his side for their display in their 3-0 home defeat to Swansea in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.
Dean Smith was puzzled by Aston Villa’s lack of commitment and desire after they were thrashed 3-0 at home by Swansea City.
Courtney Baker-Richardson, Nathan Dyer and Jay Fulton were all on target at Villa Park to Saturday to hand Swansea a place in the FA Cup fourth round.
“I never saw this defeat coming. It is the first game in which the lads have not shown enough energy, commitment or desire,” Smith told Sky Sports after the game.
“We made a good start but Swansea then took control, looked sharper, much brighter and passed the ball with more energy. I made some changes but we didn’t take our chances.”
Smith also bemoaned the absence of leading goalscorer Tammy Abraham who missed the game.
Smith said: “The difference in this game was the quality of the finishing – but I expect Tammy to be in training on Monday.”
