Didier Deschamps backs Antoine Griezmann to get back to his best and succeed at Barcelona.

Deschamps selected Griezmann for Les Bleus latest squad, regardless of his recent poor form in Barcelona.

His inconsistency at the Camp Nou has seen him not feature quite as regularly as he is used to.

Ernesto Valverde has dropped his big summer signing on occasion in an attempt to get his misfiring side back on track.

The player’s problems in Barcelona are of no concern to the France manager, as he feels Barca do not use Griezmann in his best position as he does.

Deschamps is a big fan of the former Atletico Madrid man.

According to beIN, Deschamps admits the player must do more to fit in at his new club, but is adamant he will come good in the end.

He said:

“He must fit in, he’s not used to it yet.”

“Even when he’s not as good, he’s always positive for the team.”

“With us, it’s a different situation, different position, he can play at his best position where I’ve put him a long time ago.”

“Of course, he has a very important role in how we play.”

“Even if you have great players at Barcelona, it doesn’t happen in a day.”
