Donny Van de Beek has been described by Ajax head of youth football Bryan Roy as the ideal player Italian football and namely Juventus.
Van de Beek is a product of the famous Ajax youth program. The Dutchman has worked his way up through the club’s ranks.
Los Blancos are said to be undecided between him and Pogba.
However, a man who has seen the midfielder develop and knows him well is retired Ajax legend and former Netherlands international Bryan Roy.
Roy is the head of youth football at the Amsterdam giants. Speaking to TuttoJuve he feels Van de Beek is a perfect fit for Juventus and Italian football.
“Donny would be perfectly suited to the Juventus midfield and Italian football in general.”
“He is another of those lads from the golden generation that I know so well, as both he and Matthijs de Ligt were in my squad.”
“Physically, Van de Beek has always been devastating, as even from a young age he knew how to attack and defend.”
“He was very shy, but strong on the field.”
“He is a total player and specializes in pushing forward from midfield. I’d like to see him exchanging passes with Miralem Pjanic or defending alongside Rodrigo Bentancur.”
“In general, I think he is suited to Juve’s style. If he were to leave Ajax, considering his characteristics, I think he’d do very well in Italy.”
The player himself is in no rush to make a decision and will way his options up when he feels the time is appropriate.
