Di Maria and Mbappé shock Man United at Old Trafford

With two assists from Di Maria and goals from Kimpembe and Mbappé, PSG defeats Man United at Old Trafford and ended Solskjaer’s streak.

This Tuesday at Old Trafford was supposed to be a quiet night for Manchester United, they were coming from an 11-match unbeaten run and they were facing PSG without injured Neymar and Edinson Cavani in the Champions League.

The only threats were two for the English squad, Angel Di Maria and Kylian Mbappé but confidence was high with the Red Devils.

It didn’t take them long to quickly come back to reality, the French squad came as the underdog and the victim but they immediately let everyone know that they really are after a historic season in the Champions League.

Manager Thomas Tuchel was always cautious with his statements, he wanted to speak on the pitch and surprise the world with his tactical plan against Manchester United.

Not having Neymar and Edinson Cavani made all the Red Devils relax a little too much, they really thought that Kylian Mbappé alone wasn’t going to cut it but they never considered what Angel Di Maria would be able to do against his former squad.

The first half went through with very little chances on both sides, but Manchester United soon realized that winning this match wouldn’t be as easy as everybody believed.

The second half was the living proof that no club in this competition can be underestimated despite their adversities, Di Maria and Mbappé wanted the result and they came back to the second half with all the hunger that the United players lacked.

The key moment for ‘Fideo’ right before half-time as Ashley Young pushed him to the sideline and he clashed against the fence, this really angered the Argentine player and he came back with a vengeance for the second half.

During a corner-kick for PSG, Di Maria saw Kimpembe moving with his marker completely distracted (Matic) and David de Gea oblivious to the mistake his teammate was making at that moment.

The French defender came in like lightning and scored the first goal for PSG, this was a complete shock for all the Manchester United fans, Old Trafford was in complete silence for a few minutes right after this first goal.

Massimiliano Allegri, Juventus, Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Man United urged to replace Solskjaer with Allegri ASAP

Shaka Hislop has urged Manchester United to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now and snap up Massimiliano Allegri before someone else does.

Paris Saint-Germain was doing the unthinkable, not even ten minutes into the second half had passed and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was numbed on the sidelines without knowing how to react. All honeymoons must come to an end, it’s a shame it had to be on this match.

A reaction from Manchester United was something that Old Trafford was expecting, but they forgot who was marauding up front waiting for his chance to strike.

Kylian Mbappé was just as fast as ever, he seized Angel Di Maria’s great performance and followed along with another chance from the left flank.

The Argentine sent the cross to the French youngster and he scored the second goal for PSG, it was only one hour of game and Manchester United was already frustrated for the result.

Solskjaer’s players weren’t able to react to this shocking result, they even lost Paul Pogba near the end of the match for a double-booking and they won’t have him for the return leg at Parc des Princes.

Absolutely nobody expected this result for the first match of the Champions League’s Round of 16 this season, we all know how magical this competition can get in the knock-out stages.

Neymar and Cavani must be celebrating this historic night, they won thanks to Di Maria and Mbappé’s incredible talent.

But most importantly, Manchester United lost this game for being overconfident. The streak is finally over for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and it ended in a complete disaster.
