It might seem an unremarkable deal, but what’s odd, and perhaps intriguing for Man United fans, is that the Portugal captain does not follow Real Madrid on Instagram.
“Cristiano Ronaldo has just followed Manchester United on Instagram. Bring him home,” said an excited fan on social media.
“Ronaldo follow Manchester United. The last dance?” contemplated another.
“Ronaldo in Man U and Messi in Man City, holy s*** Manchester gonna rule EPL next season,” added a third and quite optimistic one.
CR7 played in the Premier League from 2003 to 2009 before moving to La Liga on a then world-record €88 transfer.
He had already established himself as a world-beater under Sir Alex Ferguson, winning three straight Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, Ballon d’Or, FIFPro World Player of the Year, and Golden Boot among a host of other accolades in his six years at Old Trafford.
