Atletico striker Diego Costa had a match to forget as he was unable to lead his side to victory.
Diego Costa had a poor performance after he failed to convert from the spot. As a result, Atletico were forced to hold a 1-1 draw against Sevilla.
Barcelona dropped three points in the trip to Levante earlier today. Real Madrid also drew later to a strong Real Betis side. As a result, Atletico Madrid wasted their chance to go to the top of the table.

But Diego Costa was assured by his manager that he has Simeone’s full support.
“When someone works as hard as Diego Costa, I will continue to trust him,” Simeone said in his post-match interview as reported by Marca.
“Diego is currently at his best physically; he is training well but can’t find the goal.
“You’re either with Costa or without Costa. I’d give my life for him.”
Diego Simeone also went on to praise his opponents Sevilla for their tough performance.
“I saw it as a very good game, Sevilla always compete well,” Simeone added.
“They have a lot of players, a deep squad and they are able to make changes.
“Fernando wasn’t playing today but they could call on Banega. They have many options and if they can maintain that, they will always compete.”
“We tried to play a balanced match, but the first half was flat for both teams,” said Simeone.
“Neither side had control, but in the second half, we tried to press the three central defenders.
“They interpreted this very well, but Correa and Arias were very dangerous and they could have won us the game.”
