One of the Valencia CF captains Jaume Domenech has revealed that his side is very motivated for their second leg encounter against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey
Heading into their second leg against Barcelona, Domenech and his teammates find themselves a goal down on aggregate following their 1-0 defeat to Barcelona at the Nou Camp last week
Speaking to the press in a pre-match conference, Domenech admitted that the side were dreaming of the prospect of reaching the Copa del Rey final but they were under no illusions and know it will be a tough game.
“Yes, we’ve been excited from the beginning, we’re excited to get to the final and we’re one step away. We know it’s tough, but we’re motivated. At Mestalla, with our fans and doing things well, we can go through.” said Domenech, as reported on en.valenciacf.com
When asked if it was the biggest game of his career, the Spaniard refused to go that far. He said what mattered was heading into the encounter with 100% confidence.
“It could be the biggest, I’ve never played a game to progress to a final, but I’ve played Champions League games and big games, I go into it with my confidence at one hundred per cent.”
The goalkeeper believes that his side can turn the tie around.
“I think Valencia CF, in a semi-final and playing at home, can go through against any team in the world. They beat us 1-0 there and I’m convinced that we will turn the tie around. Why not?”
Domenech made it clear that Valencia will have to go on the attack if they are to progress.
“We are preparing to win the game, it’s clear that we’d go through with a 2-0 or a 3-1, but there are various options.”
