Arsenal’s new boy Kieran Tierney has some serious muscle in his corner, in the shape of UFC superstar Conor McGregor.
The 22-year-old former Celtic player and Scotland international, has struck a rather unlikely friendship.
He and Irish UFC superstar Conor McGregor are apparently big fans of each other.
It’s almost a given in today’s generation of football when most are asked who their favorite player is, the likes of Messi and Ronaldo are the go-to guys.
You may get a good few who pick Neymar or Mbappe.
The die-hard fan may plump for his sides shining star, maybe a Harry Kane or even Paul Pogba.
In an interview reported by the BBC, UFC fighter Conor “The Notorious” McGregor was asked to name his favourite footballer.
You would be forgiven if you never guessed it in a million years.
“He rose up and is a phenomenal, phenomenal football player.”
Apparently the two have struck up quite the friendship, and The Irish fighter is in the young Scots corner.
“I am in conversation with him a lot.”
“He is a great guy, a good kid and I’m rooting for him.”

When the young Arsenal player heard about it, he took to social media to acknowledge his friends support.
“Thank you so much, brother! An icon and my hero. Learned so much from you.”
McGregor has been helping Tierney with training techniques in his bid to recover from injury.
Tierney hope he can become a favorite of the Gunner’s faithful.
He has only featured three-times for the North London club since his 25 million pounds move over the summer.
He has played twice in the Europa League and once in the Carabao cup, he still waits to make his Premier League debut.
