Following in the footsteps of former legends, Eden Hazard has chosen to wear the iconic number 7 shirt for Real Madrid.

The worst kept secret of the summer was Real Madrid’s interest in Eden Hazard. The Belgian has recently completed a big money move to the Spanish giants and has signed a five year contract.

Many believe that Eden Hazard is going to finally be the man to replace Cristiano Ronaldo. Indeed, Hazard’s scoring rate and a knack of turning up for big games potentially makes him a huge asset for Madrid.

During his time at Chelsea, Eden Hazard worse the No. 10 shirt. However, the Belgian is going to change things a little this time around after ditching his preferred number. The gifted forward is going to follow in the footsteps of some of the most iconic players in the club’s history by wearing the number 7 shirt.

The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Spanish forward Raul have worn the fabled number. Currently, the number is occupied by Mariano.

However, the youngster has chosen to relinquish the shirt to the incoming Belgian as reported by Daily Mail. Quite clearly, the former Lille man has a lot of steel in order to wear a number that is expected to be a huge burden on the wearer.

Following the completion of the deal, Hazard posted a goodbye message to Chelsea fans.

The Belgium international said: ‘I hope you understand I had to pursue my next chapter, just as each and every one of you should when you have the chance to pursue your dreams.

‘Leaving Chelsea is the biggest and toughest decision in my career to date. Now it’s in the open I would like to put on record one thing was always clear to me, I have loved every moment at Chelsea and not once did I ever consider, nor would I have left for any other Club.
