Belgian winger Eden Hazard was directly asked if he thinks he is the best player in the world right now, he didn’t even flinch when he made his claim.
During the last three months in world football, there have been at least five players who can be considered above the average, one of them is Eden Hazard and even he claims that he is the best player in the world right now.
But making such a ballsy statement when you know that the world has other great player performing at their peak right now can only mean two things, either his confidence is through the roof or he just has a massive ego problem.
But we have been watching Eden Hazard perform at an insanely great level during the last three months with both his country and his club, we can safely say that the man has a good reason to claim he is the best player in the world right now and not even players like Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo can refute that.
But one thing is actually being the best player in the world, and another one is being recognized for it, the two almost never go together and there is always a lot of controversy surrounding this subject.
This debate becomes even more heated when we realize that there are at least three major awards that recognize the best, two of them have already been picked up by Croatian midfielder Luka Modric.

But as my own personal opinion, while I think Modric deserves all the credit for everything he did during 2018 with both Real Madrid and Croatia, I really don’t think he is the best player in the world right now.
There have been matches that prove Eden Hazard has been at least in the conversation to be the very best, the ones that can “sit at that table” right now as Antoine Griezmann so eloquently put it, won’t even get nominated for the Ballon d’Or this year and didn’t even feature in the other awards more recently.
One of the is Eden Hazard as we just told you, the other one is none other than Lionel Messi, and if we needed to add a third one it would be Kylian Mbappé.
But we can easily agree with Hazard’s ballsy claim that right now he is the best player in the world for a few simple reasons, the man has the better stats in the last three months, he played a far better World Cup than Lionel Messi did, and he also has made a dramatic level increase since the summer started without any signs of diminishing it in the slightest.

When asked by a Sky Sports journalist if he was the best player in the world at the moment considering what he’s done in the last three months, Eden responded: “You ask me this again? Yes. I said yes just before, so I say yes to you.”
This sole response to such a trick question that pretty much every single player (except maybe Cristiano Ronaldo or Griezmann), is the reason we agree with Eden Hazard.
Plus, the Belgian winger just got awarded as the best player of September in the Premier League after scoring five goals, setting up one assist, and scoring a hat-trick during the four matches he played in the whole month.
Messi has also performed very well with Barcelona, but the only match he really brought out the best of him was against Tottenham.
Hazard, on the other hand, has been delivering incredible performances since the World Cup. The single most impressive individual display we all saw during that tournament, was Eden Hazard’s match against Brazil in the tournament’s quarterfinals.
For me at least there is no question because this assertion goes by moments, Eden Hazard is the best player in the world today.
