Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson believes Alisson Becker is clearly a step ahead in the Brazilian national team as their rivalry on the international scene.
Alisson, who joined Liverpool in £67million summer move this summer, has been Brazil’s No 1 goalkeeper with City’s first-choice settling for the second spot.
The pair have renewed their rivalry for the Premier League title as well since Alisson joined from Roma and the two lined up on opposite ends of the pitch on Sunday for a top-of-the-table clash.
Ederson respects the similar paths that their careers have taken and acknowledges he must continue to work hard just to be Brazil’s second-choice let alone to have a chance of overtaking him in the pecking order.
“I think there is a lot of similarity between the two of us, he is having a very positive start to the season at Liverpool,” Ederson told Globo Esporte.
“The goalkeeper position is cruel because only one of us can play, but we are both playing well in England. Here he is one step ahead of me, he played in a World Cup but that’s not a reason to work less.
“Brazil is well served for goalkeepers, many who have not been to the World Cup are very good. Those who are picked will do a good job.”
