Chris Sutton insists that Celtic’s latest star striker Odsonne Edouard is the best they have had since legend Henrik Larsson and at £40m would be cheap.
Odsonne Edouard arrived at Celtic Park back in 2017 on loan from PSG. The move was made permanent in 2018.
The French forward’s form has been phenomenal. So much so he has drawn comparisons to former club legend Henrik Larsson. There have even been links with a big-money move to Manchester United.
Former Celtic forward Chris Sutton believes even at the tender age of 22, Edouard is up there with the best. He considers the player comparable to Celtic legends too. All this put together it seems a move to Europe’s elite is probably on the cards.
Speaking to Scottish outlet the Daily Record, he has heard about a £40 million price being mooted around. Sutton considers it to be good value for a player of his quality and potential.
“He’s the best striker Celtic has had since my old sidekick Henrik Larsson left.”
“Assessing some of the transfer fees which are being bandied about for average players, the rate of inflation and the premium which is added to the cost for top-class strikers, I genuinely believe £40m is a realistic sales figure.”
“Odsonne Edouard is worth £40 million.”
“Edouard has got almost everything. At the age of 22, there is a decade at the highest level waiting for him.”
“In all honesty, the time will probably be right for him to go in the summer.”
“He looks to me as though as he is already ready for the step up to one of Europe’s big leagues.”
With the kind of contributions, we are seeing from Edouard in terms of goals and assists it’s easy to see why he is held in such high regard.
