The 22-year-old has received his first Germany national team call-up for the matches against Serbia and the Netherlands.

Werder Bremen midfielder Maximilian Eggestein has been having a fantastic season in the German Bundesliga.

The 22-year-old’s work has earned him his first Germany national team call-up, as the Nationalmannschaft plays against Serbia and the Netherlands.

The match against Serbia is a friendly game in preparation for the opening UEFA Euro 2020 qualifier on Sunday.

“We are delighted for Maxi. He has fully deserved to receive this call up following his strong performances in recent months,” said Werder sporting director Frank Baumann to the club’s official website.

“Additionally, we are delighted as a club that Maxi has developed from our academy into an international player.”

“This nomination is also a reward for Maxi’s strong and stable development in previous years at Werder,” boss Florian Kohfeldt explained.

“I’m delighted for him and I’m certain he will make a good impression in the national team squad.”
