It’s time to recall the great day in which a young Sergio Aguero made his debut with Manchester City, it happened eight years ago today.
Eight years ago today, a young Sergio Aguero was coming on to replace Nigel de Jong in order to make his Manchester City debut.
This Argentine player was only 23 years old at the time, he was coming from a spectacular spell with Atletico Madrid and he was one of the biggest bets for the Citizens’ future.
Nobody imagined the type of player he would become for this club, Sergio Aguero is a living legend of not only his club but the Premier League as well.
On that day, ‘Kun’ came on the pitch without thinking he would make such an incredible impact on his first day on the job.
The former Atletico Madrid star left the Spanish club as a Europa League winner, he came to England for a reported €40 million according to Transfermarkt.
The day of his debut was in a Premier League match at Etihad Stadium, Swansea City was the squad and ‘Kun’ came on with 30 minutes left on the clock.
The Citizens were managed by Roberto Mancini back then, they were barely starting a season that would become historic thanks to Aguero’s contribution.
The Argentine’s impact was quick and swift from the very first minutes he got on the pitch.

What did Aguero do on his debut?
Edin Dzeko had just scored Manchester City’s only goal of the match at that moment, ‘Kun’ got on the pitch only two minutes after that.
It took him only nine minutes to score on his debut after an assist from Richards. Sergio also provided David Silva with a beautiful assist three minutes later, then he closed his stellar performance with a long-range screamer.
This would be Sergio’s presentation in English society, a man who has become one of the best foreign players who ever performed in the Premier League.
His name can already be written next to other illustrious players such as Thierry Henry, Eric Cantona, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Didier Drogba.
On his ninth season after four Premier League titles won, Aguero is looking sharp and ready to keep racking up the records for the Citizens.
This man is only one hat-trick away from surpassing Alan Shearer’s record in that department, he is also a good 43 goals away from Wayne Rooney’s second spot as the all-time goal scorer in the competition.
However, he is still far from Shearer’s 260 goals in the tournament’s history.

Aguero scores the decisive goal on his debut season.
Manchester City knew they had a truly special player when they signed him from Atletico Madrid, but they never imagined he would give them their first Premier League title in history.
The story is very familiar to everybody, he got that final-minute goal against Queens Park Rangers when Manchester City was playing the last game of the season.
He scored the goal that effectively eliminated Manchester United from the race despite the Red Devils’ win on a match they played at the same time.
Since then, Aguero has been the player to watch for Manchester City and one of the legends of the club.
It’s hard to fathom that it’s already been eight years since the first time Aguero set foot on the Etihad Stadium’s pitch, time flies when you are enjoying yourself while watching one of the best footballers who ever played the game in English football.
The day ‘Kun’ retires from Manchester City will be a very sad day for football, but mostly for all the Citizens who owe him so much after a brilliant career with them.
