Italy international Stephan El Shaarawy says he doesn’t think about leaving Roma also noting that he welcomes competition for places.
El Shaarawy has been linked with a summer transfer out of the Giallorossi, given the club’s many signings.
There have been speculations that have linked the former Milan man for a €16m move to Torino, but El Shaarawy maintains he is happy with where his place at Roma.
“We are training, we’re only at the beginning but there is great enthusiasm,” the 25-year-old told reporters as quoted in Football Italia while on his side’s pre-season tour of the United States.
“In any great team there is competition, that’s normal and it isn’t a problem for me.
“It’s our job, we always look to give our best. I’m not thinking about leaving Roma because I am happy here.
“I have spoken to the club and to the boss and I am calm. I know what the club want from me and visa versa.”
El Shaarawy also hopes for a recall to the Italy national team coached by Roberto Mancini.
“I’m thinking about it. Physically I’m fine and my target is to improve on what I did last year.
“I want to get my place in the Italy squad back.”
