The Paris Saint-Germain head coach believes the home ground gives the edge to Real Madrid.
Los Blancos have an advantage going into the El Clásico against Barcelona, claims PSG’s manager Unai Emery.
Zinedine Zidane’s men have been far from their best in the Spanish top-flight since the start of the campaign. They are currently placed fourth in the La Liga, 11 points adrift of leaders Barcelona.
Meanwhile the Catalans have been dominating the Spanish top-flight, with Lionel Messi netting 14 goals in 16 games for Valverde’s side.
However, Emery believes that Madrid have the help of the home crowd from Santiago Bernabéu, which gives them the edge over their opponent from Catalonia.
“They are many points behind, but on Saturday if one team is favourite to win then it should be Real Madrid, as they’re at home,” Emery told Marca.
“[Home advantage] is important in a Clasico. Furthermore, Real Madrid are playing to stay alive in La Liga.
“They need the three points and home advantage is quite important. But you cannot rule out Atletico Madrid for LaLiga either.”
Despite the slow start of Madrid though, the PSG boss remains adamant that Zidane and his men will come back stronger during the second half of the season.
“The fact they’ve not started well in La Liga could mean something for the second half of the season. When the most important matches come along, I am convinced they’ll be good.
“Real Madrid still have a really good team. They have won the last two Champions League titles and a LaLiga title.” the Parisians boss added.
