Unai Emery was happy with the “character” shown as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Bordeaux 1-0 on Sunday

The Parisians had a tricky encounter at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux on Sunday with Giovani Lo Celso denied by Benoit Costil and Javier Pastore heading wide before the break.

But in the 76th minute, Lo Celso scored with a half-volleyed shot off his left boot to secure the three points for PSG.

The Ligue 1 champions need to find another 10 points from their remaining four matches to reach an historic century of point with their own record tally being at 96 points across a single league campaign.

“We wanted to keep our run of wins going and we managed to do that. Bordeauxwere trying to improve their league position. They did well, we had to be solid defensively but we showed character. It’s another step forward for us. We’re happy with the result. I’m satisfied with the work done by the players. It was important to keep our run of wins going after being crowned champions and qualifying for the Coupe de France final.” said Emery, according to the club website.

Goal hero Lo Celso admitted that the hosts had provided PSG a hard time and was happy to have made the difference for his side.

“We came up against a good Bordeaux team, which is very strong at home. We played well, and worked hard to win the game and go home with the three points. That’s what we wanted. I’m happy with my performance, but it’s the whole team that worked well. I’m happy to have scored and helped my team win here.” said the Argentine.
