The Red Devils made an approach for Can in the January transfer window but the Germany international preferred to return home.
Emre Can still enjoys great rapport with Jurgen Klopp. And he still holds Liverpool in high regard despite the Reds inability to give him a contract that the deserved.
Can left in the summer of 2018 to join Juventus and has added a Serie A title to his honors list. Life under Maurizio Sarri has not gone according to plan and he was shipped off to Borussia Dortmund on loan.
But before that move transpired, there was interest from Manchester United. One that the 26-year-old Germany international had to politely decline.
“The comparison fits,” Can said while talking to Sport Bild about Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
“Both are record champions and have huge strength. In addition, big names like Bastian Schweinsteiger and Owen Hargreaves played for both clubs.
“But I would never play for United because of my time in Liverpool. My heart won’t let me do that. The rivalry between the clubs is really huge.”
“When I came to Dortmund in winter, I compared a lot of things here with Liverpool.
“The clubs are really similar, have a familiar environment and unique fans. And: Both love Jurgen Klopp!”
Here is to wishing Emre Can success in the future.
