English clubs tracking Ismaila Sarr

Ismaila Sarr had a breakthrough campaign in France with Stade Rennais and the youngster is now attracting interest from Watford and Newcastle United.

Stade Rennais could be set to gain massive returns from a potential sale of Ismaila Sarr. The young forward is reportedly attracting a lot of interest from the likes of Watford and Newcastle United.

The 21-year-old Senegal international has had an amazing campaign with the Breton club. Ismaila Sarr scored eight goals and provided five assists in 35 Ligue 1 games. However, it was his performances in Europe that really caught the eye. He scored four goals which included a brace against Astana and a goal against Arsenal.

Clearly with tons of talent and an ability to showcase his potential against the bigger outfits, Ismaila Sarr is one for the future.

Rennais have already announced the departure of star player, Hatem Ben Arfa and could be losing Ismaila Sarr as well. Ben Arfa had another successful season with the Ligue 1 side and is now seeking a fresh challenge.

“These last few games allowed me to move forward in my journey for next season. I do not take pleasure (in announcing my departure) but what’s on offer is very limited and has made the choice for me,” Ben Arfa said according to Foot Mercato.

And now, Rennais will be looking to recoup as much money as they can through a potential sale of Ismaila Sarr. According to L’Equipe, Watford’s initial offer of €30 million was rejected. Rennais are not going to settle for anything less than €40 million.

Indeed, the club is keen on making a decent amount of profit from the sale. Ismaila Sarr arrived at Rennais from FC Metz back in 2017 for €17 million.

Watford initially were in pole position to sign the young forward. However, Newcastle United are also in the picture. Sarr wants to follow in the footsteps of Senegal teammate Sadio Mane and an experience in England will help the youngster further his career.
