Christian Eriksen is being linked with a move to Manchester United, not contingent on Paul Pogba leaving.
Reports out Sky Sports, are suggesting United are considering signing the Danish international as a replacement for Ander Herrera. Who left on a free transfer to PSG at the end of the season.
It is believed any move for the likes of Bruno Fernandes was always contingent on Paul Pogba leaving the Theatre of Dreams.
However United feel that Eriksen would in fact complement Pogba and be a natural replacement for the departed Spaniard.
Eriksen himself has said:
“He would like to try something new.”
If he doesn’t leave this transfer window, Spurs run the risk of him joining Toby Alderweireld on the potential free transfer list next year.
There was the talk at the start of the transfer window that Eriksen to Real Madrid was a certainty.
Zinedine Zidane’s obsession with Paul Pogba put an end to that very quickly.
Pogba to Real is very unlikely, given Real’s finances and Pogba’s exceptional preseason.
United will not envy having to deal with tough negotiator Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy.
He squeezed every penny he could out of the Red Devils in both the Carrick and Berbatov deals.
United may feel they have the upper hand this time. Given Christian Eriksen’s contract situation.
There has been no direct contact between the two clubs but this could be a genuine last-minute deal.
