During an interview with FC Barcelona’s official website, Ernesto Valverde explained how Ousmane Dembele’s injury was cruel.

Ousmane Dembele has been extremely unlucky with injuries at FC Barcelona, but Valverde thinks the latest one was downright cruel.

The French forward has been struggling with different types of muscular injuries since he arrived in Barcelona.

He came as a response to Neymar’s sudden exit from the club back in 2017, but he couldn’t handle the pressure.

From the first minute he set foot on La Masia, Dembele suffered his first problem and he hasn’t stopped since.

Although he’s performed quite well in isolated moments for the club, there is no doubt that the fans are fed up with his situation.

All the club can do is wait for him to recover, but his latest injury was quite serious.

A hamstring complete tear can become one of the most deceitful problems for a footballer, it affects their psyche.

Dembele is going through the recovery process but there is no indication if he will be completely out of danger when he returns.

Dembele has Valverde’s full support.

The Barcelona manager spoke candidly about Dembele’s situation, he offers the player his full support.

Valverde was a footballer himself, he knows how difficult this injury can be.

During an interview with the club’s official website, the gaffer explained how the latest injury was cruel for Dembele.

“His latest injury has been cruel because he was mentally right to work hard,” said Valverde on FC Barcelona’s website.

“We thought we were finally getting him to his best form. We believed we could get his best version back.

“It was a major blow for all of us. He is a player with so much quality that you want to see him out on the field.

“Right now, he is working hard on his recovery and we want to see him back, we see a lot of quality in him and he keeps surprising all of us.”
