An emotional, exciting, and action-packed 3rd and final matchday of the Euro 2020 group stage marked the end of the journey for eight teams.
Italy finished as Group A winners with nine points, followed by Wales with four points. Switzerland proceeded to the next round as one of the best third-placed teams while Turkey, who suffered defeat in all three games, got disqualified.
In Group B, Belgium finished as leaders with nine points. Denmark, Russia, and Finland finish level on points but it is only the Danes who accompany the Belgians to the last 16 due to a better goal difference than the other two.
North Macedonia experienced playing in the European Championships for the first time in their history, and their experience was rather short-lived. Netherlands, Austria, and Ukraine proceed to the knockout stages from Group C.
In Group D, Scotland are the odd one out as they finish below England, Croatia, and the Czech Republic.
Spain got an emphatic win to stay alive in the tournament, with Sweden being the other team to do so in Group E.
Finally, all three heavyweights – namely France, Germany, and Portugal – from ‘group of death’ Group F leave Hungary behind and progress to the next round.
