Europa League groups C and D will see a mix of newcomers as well as seasoned pros.

UEFA.com confirmed the Europa League group C consists of, FC Basel, Krasnodar, Getafe, and Trabzonspor.

Trabzonspor president Ahmet Ağaoğlu said in the on group C draw:

“Basel and Krasnodar are the teams that I know. We don’t know much about Getafe.”

“But I think it’s a balanced group because the teams’ strengths are similar.”

“If we don’t play like the way we played against AEK yesterday, I believe we can reach the knockout stages.”

Having acquired Daniel Sturridge too, the Turks will fancy their chances.

But Sergei Matveev the Krasnodar coach is confident, he said:

“It is a good draw for us: an even group without favourites and outsiders.”

“All the games will be evenly-balanced and football will decide who is better. ”

“Getafe are a good team, among the top teams in La Liga last season, so those will be difficult games.”

“Trabzonspor were always strong, while Basel are used to playing in the group stages of the Champions League and Europa League.”

FC Basel have a knack for producing star players, it will be interesting if their current crop of players can produce some star performances.

UEFA.com confirmed that Europa League group D consists of, Sporting CP, PSV Eindhoven, Rosenborg and LASK.

Sporting CP coach Marcel Keizer thoughts on the UEFA Europa League group D:

“It will be good for me to go back to the Netherlands and play against PSV Eindhoven.”

“It will be a good game, I am looking forward to it. I also know something about Rosenborg, but less about LASK.”

“We’ll prepare well for these games. It’s not the easiest group but it’s a good challenge.”

A lot will depend on if Sporting keep hold of star players like Bruno Fernandes before the transfer window closes.

PSV were winners of the trophy back in 1978 and would love to come out of the shadows of Ajax.

Valérien Ismaël, LASK coach just wants to enjoy the experience, he said:

“As a club, we are looking forward to the challenges ahead.”

“We know, of course, that we are the underdogs against these very renowned clubs.”

“We are happy to accept the challenge and try to reach our limits. If we do that, we are difficult to beat for any team.”

PSV and Sporting will do battle for the top spot in Group D, but group C could go down to the wire.

The hostility of a Thursday night crowd in Turkey may be a deciding factor.
