Eusebio Di Francesco looks to the future

Eusebio Di Francesco is the new manager of Sampdoria and the experienced tactician is keen to do well after leaving Roma.

While being presented to the media, Eusebio Di Francesco said that he joined Sampdoria because he wanted to start over.

Indeed, the Italian tactician left AS Roma unceremoniously despite achieving so much for them. However, at the presentation, Eusebio Di Francesco bore no signs of someone who was hurt by an exit from a place he gave so much to.

Happy to be at his new club, Eusebio Di Francesco is set to replace Marco Giampaolo now at AC Milan. While speaking to the press as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, he said that he wants to get back on track and press the proverbial restart button.

“I thank the club for this great opportunity. I wanted to get back on track and I am convinced that I have found the right way to restart. I am a hands-on coach so now I need perfection. I want to entertain people by getting results.”

‘Wily old fox’ Claudio Ranieri pleased with Sampdoria start

Birthday boy Claudio Ranieri is pleased with his start to life at Sampdoria following this afternoon's 0-0 draw against AS Roma on his debut.

And while asked about the chances of Doria next season, Di Francesco gave a very measured response. He also spoke about club legend Fabio Quagliarella and how to use the former Italy international.

“It’s too early to tell how far we can go but the basics are there.”

While he was at Roma, there were rumors of Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi not getting along. But Eusebio Di Francesco maintains that the legendary duo share a great bond of friendship.

“Totti and De Rossi? They’re friends. But I don’t think it’s right to make comments, if I wanted to talk, I would have done it there.”

As things stand, the club is looking to move on from the Giampaolo era. With an experienced coach like Eusebio Di Francesco, one can expect this team to spring a few surprises next season.
