Andre Gomes is set to become a permanent player for the Toffees following a successful introduction to the Premier League last season.

When Andre Gomes first arrived at Everton from Barcelona, it was the arrival of a player with much to prove. Following a promising move to Barcelona, the Portugal international was unable to really impose himself in the starting XI. And with the likes of Ivan Rakitic and Andres Iniesta at the club, Andre Gomes was always going to struggle.

Then came along the option of signing for Everton on a season long loan. Andre Gomes took that option. And he made sure that he did not let the opportunity pass him by. In a season where the Toffees made a slow start, Gomes was one of their most consistent players.

Following the end of last season, the youngster returned to his parent club. However, it is clear that he has no future at Camp Nou. Initially several clubs from England and France were interested in signing him. However, it now appears that Andre Gomes wants to permanently link up with the Merseysiders.

As reported by Daily Star, Andre Gomes is on the verge of signing for Marco Silva’s team. Silva is a huge fan of the midfielder and wants him back for good. A deal could be imminent with the player already agreeing to a substantial contract offer.

Moreover, the player is going to cost Everton somewhere around €30 million which should be considered a bargain in the current climate.

The wages on offer at Everton are going to make Andre Gomes among the club’s top earners. The likes of Yerry Mina, Bernard, Richarlison and Jordan Pickford have sizeable contracts. Indeed Everton believe that the player is worth that much and are willing to break bank for this.

Should the move happen, it would represent a major coup for a team that could surprise many next season.
