Following the permanent signing of Andre Gomes, Everton are now looking to bring in four new faces to the Goodison Park this summer.
Just like last summer, Everton are once again set for another spending spree in the transfer market. In Marcos Silva’s first summer as the Toffees manager, the likes of Lucas Digne, Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes were brought to the Merseyside club. Richarlison was also brought from Watford.
And it appears that the club has not concluded its transfer business following the permanent signing of Andre Gomes. The Portugal international successfully integrated with the first team in his first season in the English Premier League.
It now appears that Silva is looking to tie down Kurt Zouma on a permanent basis. The Frenchman was also on loan at the club and was equally successful. Silva is keen to sign Zouma permanently but it might prove to be difficult.
With Frank Lampard set to become Chelsea’s new manager, the club might not allow a sale to Everton. Moreover, the club’s transfer ban also means that they will have to rely on players who were not anywhere near the first team picture last season.
According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth (as reported by the Daily Star), Everton are going to buy more players.
“They loved [Gomes] at Goodison Park last season,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“As soon as Marco Silva brought him in, a regular in the team, and from the moment he started playing well for Everton all the talk was can they tie him down to a permanent deal from Barcelona.
“It’s quite a coup for them as well because the £22m fee that has been agreed came after West Ham had made Gomes a priority for their transfer business.
“They had two bids, £18m and £20m, rejected.
“Everton though are not stopping there. They are targeting a new right-back, new centre-back and a striker this summer.
“They’ll also try to get Kurt Zouma back – that’s going to all depend on Chelsea when they appoint their new manager, when, if it is going to be Frank Lampard, whether he sees Zouma as part of his plans.
“He’ll have to speak to Petr Cech now of course who is in the technical director role there.
“Everton’s business though you’d have to say will also depend on if they can reduce the size of their squad and get rid of some of the higher earners at the football club.
“You’re talking about the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Sandro, Mo Besic as well and Cuco Martina.”
