The Football Association are reportedly confident that Gareth Southgate will not leave the England post to take charge of Manchester United, according to SportsMole.

The Red Devils are currently under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the Norwegian currently has a perfect record since replacing Jose Mourinho as manager last month.

United are expected to appoint a permanent manager at the end of the season, however, and Southgate has been rumored as a possible candidate.

The former England U21 international, who guided the Three Lions to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, has a contract with the FA until the summer of 2022.

Reports in the English press suggests, ‘senior FA insiders’ are not concerned by the United rumors, with a host of them believing that Southgate would not turn his back on the national team.

The former defender’s only previous managerial experience as a club manager came with Middlesbrough between 2006 and 2009.
