Brazilian star Fabinho revealed that he has a very good relationship with manager Jurgen Klopp, who recently put him in a centre-back role at Liverpool
Upon completing his £44m move from AS Monaco last summer, Fabinho initially struggled to break into the Liverpool team which prompted rumours he could be sold.
But, in recent months, Fabinho has become an ever-present figure in the Reds line-up and he praised Klopp’s influence.
“The relationship with the coach is good,” Fabinho told the club website.
“He has a different way of speaking to each player. He understands things about us, things we need to improve on.
“He’ll tell you what he wants you to do on the pitch concerning movement, so that when we’re on the pitch we understand the best options for us. The relationship I have with him is very good.”
The 25-year-old has been widely praised for his strong performance as a centre-back in Liverpool’s crucial 1-0 win at Brighton on Saturday, which enabled them to maintain their four-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
But, for Fabinho, this came as no surprise given that he had already played in the position in the FA Cup against Wolves.
“I’d already played the previous game as a centre-back against Wolves,” added Fabinho.
“I think it went well, I had a good understanding with Ki-Jana Hoever [against Wolves], the communication was good.
“Regarding positioning, I improved throughout the game in this aspect. I did well, and in the last game against Brighton, I think I played well.”
Fabinho has made 19 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions this season with the Reds’ next league game being against Crystal Palace at Anfield this Saturday.
