Italian forward Fabio Quagliarella has signed a new contract at U.C. Sampdoria to end any uncertainty surrounding his future
Despite being 35 years old, Quagliarella remains an integral member of the Sampdoria team with 10 goals and five assists in 16 Serie A games this season.
Quagliarella’s displays at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris have seen him become linked with a high-profile loan transfer to AC Milan.
Reports in Italy had suggested the Rossoneri eyed Quagliarella in a potential backup role to Gonzalo Higuain and Patrick Cutrone.
But Sampdoria have poured cold water over these rumours by making an announcement on Christmas Day that their captain will remain at the club until June 2020.
“U.C. Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero and Fabio Quagliarella toast to the captain’s new contract until June 30, 2020,” read a statement on the club website.
The Blucerchiati will play Chievo Verona today in the Serie A with the game to begin at 15:00 (CET).
