During an interview with Diario AS, Cesc Fabregas revealed the many details that Real Madrid had with him throughout his career.
It’s fair to say that Cesc Fabregas is arguably considered one of the best Spanish midfielders in modern history, he was also one of Real Madrid’s biggest targets during his prime.
This offensive midfielder ranks right below illustrious names such as Xabi Alonso, Andres Iniesta, and Xavi Hernandez.
But Cesc holds a very special place in Spanish football history, for he was the one who delivered the two most important moments of the national team.
His talent was never ignored by presidents Florentino Perez or Ramon Calderon, they both attempted to sign him during his career at both Arsenal and Chelsea.
Fabregas’ reputation was forged since the year 2008, when he scored the penalty that gave Spain the chance to play the European Championship semifinal.
The youngster got that goal against the legendary Gianluigi Buffon, it was the last penalty from a dramatic shootout and Spaniards will remember him for that forever.
But that wasn’t the only great performance he offered in the major tournaments with Spain, Cesc wasn’t a regular in the starting XI but he was always used in the most important games.
He was also the one who assisted Andres Iniesta in the 2010 World Cup final against the Netherlands, which is another unforgettable moment from his career.
Cesc Fabregas reveals rejecting Real Madrid:
"They called me more than once or twice. The first time I was very young. I was 18 and they offered me a big salary, but I felt like I belonged at Arsenal. Wenger had bet the farm on me. I always dreamed of playing for Barça." [AS] pic.twitter.com/U3Pcy68lSr

The 2012 European Championship saw Fabregas participating more in matches, he played as a ‘False 9’ during that tournament.
Cesc was very important to the national team during that competition as well, e was always important for his national team.
During his time at Arsenal, Fabregas earned all his call-ups with his country due to the leadership he always showed with the Gunners.
This leading role that Arsene Wenger gave him after Thierry Henry left was the reason Real Madrid wanted him, they truly believed he was an ideal player for Los Blancos.
There was a moment in which he fractured his knee during a match against Liverpool, he was out of the game for more than five months after a clash against Xabi Alonso.
Fabregas recalls that Los Blancos reached out to him during that difficult time, something that he still remembers to this day.
“There were many attempts to sign me from Florentino and Calderon…” said Cesc during the interview for Diario AS.
“Had I listened to their proposals, I would’ve played at Real Madrid. It was more than one or two times that they called me.”
“I was too young during the first times they approached me. I was only 18 years old and they offered me a very important wage, but I felt identified with Arsenal.”
“Wenger put everything on the line for me, I couldn’t leave. Regardless of what happened, I will always feel grateful to Real Madrid for the way they treated me.”
“I injured my fibula when I was 23 and they sent me a beautiful letter. I feel grateful for their interest, but my dream was to play at Barcelona and things worked out for me pretty well,” he added.
Fabregas: Real Madrid? There have been a lot of contacts from Florentino Perez and Calderon. I think I was contacted two or three times. The first time I was very young, my neighborhood was 18 years old and they gave me a very important salary, but I felt connected to Arsenal. pic.twitter.com/0xiKWJRNeY

Fabregas’ veteran life in AS Monaco.
Now that he is already 31 years old, Cesc Fabregas is trying to live his best life as one of the most important AS Monaco stars.
His first season was quite complicated for him after manager Thierry Henry was sacked, Cesc only came to France because his friend asked him for a favor.
But Fabregas is a professional, he is confident that Monaco can fight to win Ligue 1 this season and possibly play the Champions League next year.
There are no plans of him going to any other club in Europe right now, AS Monaco is an ideal place for him to continue his career at the moment.
He didn’t speak about retirement either, Cesc is still eager to practice every day and he still feels the hunger that he felt when he was just a teenager in the Premier League.
We will be the first ones to tell you if the Spaniard decides to play for a new club in the future, we will have to enjoy him at Monaco for the time being.
