A Twitter fan has compared Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s statistics in an attempt to put an end to the age-old debate.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, for over a decade now, have produced thrilling performances to keep the world at their feet.

Cristiano Ronaldo started his senior career in Sporting Lisbon. In 2003, Ronaldo left the Manchester United players bewildered during a friendly match which eventually led to his transfer. It was in England where Cristiano Ronaldo rose to prominence. Under Sir Alex Ferguson’s guidance, he transformed into one of the best players in the Premier League. But the Portuguese hadn’t made his place among the world’s best and into the history books.

Real Madrid broke the bank to sign Ronaldo making him the then most expensive footballer of all time. The 34-year old went on to win numerous trophies, smash record books, rewrite history.

Lionel Messi, on the hand, had a contrasting career from his arch-rival. The Argentine has always been a one-club man and will remain as such, he says.

Recently, a fan on Twitter has been comparing the Ronaldo and Messi to answer the most ambiguous question among the football fans – Who to give the number 1 spot to?

Altin Ademaj, as his Twitter handle says, has been listing out the duos career statistics such as number of individual trophies, longest goalscoring runs most hattricks, etc.

Ademaj has also compared them on some of the rather unnoticeable traits.

In one post, Ademaj argues that Ronaldo has a better efficiency in scoring headers. While in the other, he feels Messi is more creative in playmaking.

So far, Messi seems to be edging out the Juventus number-7. But this comparison, which started out last year, is still ongoing and open.
