The director says Los Merengues have never tried to buy the Argentinean superstar because is “not feasible or affordable” option.
Real Madrid has always tried to buy the best footballers to play for them in the Spanish La Liga tournament.
But they have never even contacted Argentinean superstar Lionel Messi, who plays for their arch-rivals Barcelona.
Which makes fans question why they never have done it.
Today, Jeronimo Farre who is part of Los Merengues board of directors has come out clean to say why they haven’t done it.
“If Messi hasn’t played in Madrid it’s because we’ve not been able to make it happen,” Farrell was quoted by Marca.
“Because he hasn’t been feasible or affordable. The other megastar was Cristiano Ronaldo and Madrid enjoyed his talent for nine seasons.”
He explained: “Real Madrid are the most successful team on the continent.”
“We had our lean times, but we had Alfredo Di Stefano’s cycle with great players who gave us the first five European Cups.”
“Under Florentino [Perez]’s presidency we’ve had another brilliant time with Raul [Gonzalez], [Luis] Figo, [Zinedine] Zidane, Ronaldo Nazario, [Gareth] Bale and, above all, Cristiano Ronaldo,” he said.
“Their contributions have been crucial.”
